MoodTag Size Guide
Choosing the right MoodTag is not only about the shape. The best dog ID tag should keep your dog’s details readable, sit comfortably on the collar, and match how your dog actually moves.
The MoodTag Fit Method
MoodTag now focuses on Never-Fall dog ID tags. Every current MoodTag setup is built around a premium stainless steel tag, deep laser engraving, a force-tested Never-Fall Ring, and a 26mm Heavy-Duty Attachment Ring.
The shape affects the look, engraving space, and collar fit. The setup choice affects the ring strength: Lite uses a 48kg pull-force tested Never-Fall Ring, while MAX uses MoodTag’s strongest 100kg pull-force tested Never-Fall Ring.

Lite Vs MAX
A larger tag does not automatically make the setup safer. A smaller tag does not automatically make it better. The real decision is whether your dog needs Lite or MAX.
Strong Everyday Setup
Best for everyday active dogs, daily walks, dog parks, and owners upgrading from an ordinary tag.
Maximum Ring Strength
Best for large, strong, rough, escape-prone, adventure dogs, and dogs that have lost tags before.
Choosing A Shape
Use the shape to balance style, readability, and comfort. The goal is a tag that looks good, fits your dog’s collar area, and keeps the phone number easy to read.
The tag should not constantly hit your dog’s chest, dip into the water bowl, or catch during normal movement.
The phone number is the most important safety detail. Avoid overcrowding the tag with too much text.
Longer names and extra details often suit wider shapes like Bone or Military. Compact shapes suit shorter engraving.
If your dog is rough on gear, choose MAX before worrying about shape. Strength first, style second.
Dog Size Matching
These are practical sizing guidelines. The best choice still depends on your dog’s collar, chest clearance, movement, and how much information you need engraved.
Small dogs usually suit compact shapes such as Luna Heart, Signature Bone, Classic Hexagon, or Classic Star. Keep engraving simple so the phone number stays readable.
Medium dogs usually have the most flexibility. Classic Round, Classic Bone, Classic Heart, Scout Military, Hexagon, and Star can all work depending on collar clearance.
Large dogs often suit larger or wider shapes because engraving can stay more readable. Classic Bone, Scout Military, Classic Round, and Classic Heart are strong options.
For rough-play dogs, setup is more important than shape. If your dog pulls, wrestles, swims, escapes, or has lost tags before, start with Never-Fall MAX.
Engraving Limits
MoodTag engraving is constrained by physical space. Staying within the engraving limits helps the final tag look cleaner and keeps the safety details easier to read.
Maximum 12 characters.
Maximum 25 characters. Short, punchy lines work best.
Maximum 12 characters.
Maximum 15 characters. This is the most important safety detail.

Attachment Setup
When checking size and fit, remember the tag is part of a full attachment setup. The 26mm Heavy-Duty Attachment Ring connects the setup to your dog’s collar D-ring.

Inspect collar hardware and attachment rings for wear, bending, opening, damage, or weakness.
Plus Upgrade
Plus is a practical upgrade available on the product page. It does not change the Lite or MAX Never-Fall Ring strength, and it does not change the tag size.
Common Sizing Mistakes
A larger tag can improve readability, but only if it suits your dog’s body size and collar clearance. On small dogs, an oversized tag can swing, clank, hit the water bowl, or feel bulky.
A very small tag on a large dog may force the engraving to become too small. If someone finds your dog, they should be able to read your phone number without struggling.
If your dog keeps losing tags, a different shape alone may not solve the problem. Choose Lite or MAX first, then choose the shape.
The tag is only one part of the setup. Check the collar D-ring and attachment hardware regularly, especially for active dogs.

If normal wear makes the engraved details unreadable, we will replace the tag.
If the Never-Fall Ring fails during normal use and clear photo proof is provided, we will replace the full Never-Fall tag setup.
