The noise

Why do dog tags jingle?

Dog tags jingle because a hanging tag swings and knocks against the ring, the collar D-ring and any other tags with every step. The more tags on the ring, the more noise. A slide-on dog tag removes the hanging part, so it is jingle-free: there is nothing to knock.

How it works

How the Silent Slide-On works

The Silent Slide-On threads onto the collar strap and sits flat against it:

  • No ring, no hanging hardware: nothing swings, catches or clinks.
  • Engraving: one side, with your dog’s name, phone number and an optional registration number, deep laser engraved and shown bright silver.
  • Material: mirror-polished stainless steel, 2.0mm, 13g, in Stainless, Black, Navy, Gold or Rose Gold.
  • Collar or harness: it slides onto the strap before you buckle it.

Silent dog tag FAQs

Is the Slide-On a dog tag that doesn’t jingle?

Yes. It’s a no-jingle dog tag: nothing hangs, so there is nothing to jingle. If you also hang a council rego tag or another tag from the D-ring, that tag can still make noise.

Can a slide-on tag fall off?

A slide-on can’t fall off a ring because it has none: it stays on the strap while the collar is buckled.

Can I put a silent tag on a harness?

Yes, if the harness strap is 15mm, 20mm or 25mm wide and you can slide the tag on before buckling it.

Is a silicone tag quieter than a stainless slide-on?

Both are quiet. Silicone is soft and can be chewed; the stainless Slide-On is quiet because nothing hangs, and its deep laser engraving stays readable. Compare materials in our dog tag materials guide.

Will the engraving stay readable?

Yes. The Slide-On is deep laser engraved and covered by the Lifetime Engraving Readability guarantee: if normal wear makes it unreadable, we replace it.
