Personalisation
What can I engrave on the tag?
Every MoodTag is personalised on both sides: Front (dog name + optional short quote) and Back (owner name + phone number).
What are the character limits?
To keep engraving clean and readable, we use the following limits:
- Dog name: max 12 characters
- Front quote: max 25 characters
- Owner name: max 12 characters
- Phone number: max 15 characters
Can I leave the quote blank?
Yes. Many customers keep the front simple with the dog’s name only, then engrave the phone number on the back.
How do I know what to put on a dog tag?

What is the MoodTag AI Personaliser?
The AI Personaliser helps you generate short front-quote ideas that match your dog’s vibe. It returns exactly 3 quote options to choose from, and you can regenerate or edit the text manually. Learn more: AI Personaliser.
Can I preview the engraving before I buy?
Yes. We provide a live engraving preview on the product page so you can check the layout before checkout.
Does the preview show the exact final engraving?
The preview is designed to be accurate for layout and placement. Minor variations can occur due to engraving and how finishes appear under different lighting and screens.
Shipping
Do you ship outside Australia?
No. MoodTag currently ships within Australia only.
Do you offer same-day dispatch?
Yes. Orders placed before 10:00am (Mon–Fri) are engraved and dispatched the same business day. Orders after 10:00am dispatch the next business day.
How much is shipping?
- Free shipping: orders over $80
- Standard (tracked): $8.95
- Express (tracked): $12.95
How long does delivery take?
Typical metro delivery estimates:
- Standard (tracked): 3–5 business days (metro)
- Express (tracked): 1–2 business days (metro)
Who do you ship with?
We ship with Australia Post and provide tracking. Orders ship as a parcel (not an envelope). Full details: Shipping.
Returns & remakes
Can I return a personalised dog tag if I change my mind?
Personalised tags are made to order. Change-of-mind returns are generally not available once engraving has begun. If you contact us before the tag is engraved, we may be able to help.
What if I entered the wrong details?
Customers are responsible for checking spelling and phone numbers before checkout. If incorrect details were entered, we don’t offer free remakes.
What if MoodTag made an error or the tag has a defect?
If we made an error or there’s a defect, we’ll remake your tag and send it with express shipping.
How long do I have to report an issue?
You have 30 days to report an issue after receiving your order.
Do I need to provide proof for a refund or remake?
Yes. We require clear photos of the tag and packaging. No proof may result in no refund or remake. Full details: Returns.
Do you offer an engraving guarantee?
Yes. MoodTag offers a Lifetime Engraving Guarantee. If the engraving becomes unreadable under normal use, we’ll replace your tag. See full details on our Guarantee page.
What do I need to claim a replacement?
Please provide a clear photo showing the engraving issue and proof of purchase from MoodTag (order number, receipt email, or invoice). Then contact us via Contact or email admin@moodtag.com.au.
What isn’t covered by the guarantee?
Lost tags, intentional damage, harsh chemical damage, and cosmetic wear that doesn’t affect readability. Incorrect engraving details entered at checkout aren’t covered.
Bundle offer
Do you offer a bundle discount?
Yes — we offer a 3-for-$50 bundle on eligible tags. Add 3 eligible tags and the discount applies automatically in your cart.
Can I mix shapes and finishes in the bundle?

Engraving
How Deep Is MoodTag’s Laser Engraving?
MoodTag tags are deep laser engraved — meaning we remove metal to create a recessed groove, not a surface print. Our engraving depth is approximately 0.10mm, which is why you can feel the grooves when you swipe your finger across the text. Deep engraving supports long-term readability, so your dog’s ID details stay clear through everyday wear.
